Chief (Mrs) Yetunde Abosede Onanuga
On, 29 May 2015, Chief (Mrs) Onanuga was sworn-in as Deputy Governor of Ogun State. She contested the 11 April, 2015 election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as running mate to Senator Ibikunle Amosun CON, FCA, the incumbent Governor, who was duly re-elected for his second term in office.
The agenda of the administration is outlined in the Mission to Rebuild Ogun State and is anchored upon a 5 point cardinal programme:-
- Affordable Qualitative Education
- Efficient Health Care Delivery
- Increased Agricultural Production and Industrialization
- Affordable Housing and Urban Renewal
- Rural and Infrastructural Development / Employment Generation
Chief (Mrs) Onanuga had previously aspired to be the running mate to Governor Amosun during the May 2011 general elections, however the party leadership of the now defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), at the time decided otherwise.
She later served as the Chairperson of the Labour Relations Policy Work Group of Governor Amosun’s Transition Committee, prior to the commencement of the Governor’s first term in office.
Her Work Group worked assiduously to identify various challenges confronting industrial harmony and productivity in Ogun State and proffered useful recommendations which fostered peace and also gave the workers renewed confidence in the new administration.
A Public Servant, Chief (Mrs) Onanuga started her career with the Lagos State Government on 01 November, 1983. She rose through the ranks of the Public Service and attained the position of Director of Finance and Administration in the Ministry of Environment, before her voluntary retirement in 2014.
She is a member of many professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) since 2003. As a member of the Institute, she attended many conferences and seminars in various parts of Nigeria and built up an extensive network of contacts.
Awards and Honours
Her love for the welfare of children and efforts to assist the youth and less privileged in society led to her conferment with the Honorary Chieftaincy title of the Yeye Ewe of Esure by His Royal Highness, Oba Kamoru Sansi, the Obelu of Esure in Ijebu East Local Government Area in December, 1995.
Chief (Mrs) Onanuga has a passion for helping the underprivileged and through her deep involvement in a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), Child Upliftment Association (previously called Sisters Unite for Children), which is engaged in catering for abandoned and street children, she has been able to provide succour to hundreds of children.
The Association has through contributions of members and stakeholders, been able to open a Resource Centre for the Upliftment of the Girl Child Abandoned or Found on the Street.
Born on Sunday, 11 September, 1960 at Adeoyo Hospital, Ibadan to the family of Late Pa Felix Tanimowo Fabamwo and Mrs. Lois Ajike Fabamwo.
Her paternal grandparents, the Late Pa and Madam Tusen Fabamwo originated from Aparaki near Ijebu Igbo in Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State while her maternal grandparents, the Late Oba and Olori Ezekiel Oye Sofodu, the Alakaka of Akaka, originated from Akaka in Remo North Local Government of Ogun State.
Chief (Mrs) Onanuga attended the following schools:-

- Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, Lagos (obtained Technical Teachers Certificate (TTC, Business Education, Upper Credit, 1989-1990)
- Ogun State University, Ago-Iwoye (MBA in Technology Management, 1998-2000)
Chief (Mrs) Onanuga who is fondly called “Big Mummy” or “Yeye”, at home, got married to Otunba (Giwa) Abiodun Onanuga on 20 October, 1984 and the marriage is blessed with children. She is a dutiful wife to her husband and a loving mother who dotes on her children.
