POLITICAL HISTORY OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT Odeda local government was previously administered at various times as Egba Odeda District Council (Originally a constituent of the defunct Egba Divisional Council) and later as part of the Egba Local Council (which embraced the defunct Abeokuta Urban District Council, Egba Ikereku District Council, Imala District council, Egba Ifo District council, Egba Obafemi District council, Egba Owode District council and Egba Odeda District council). This position was maintained until 1981 when the Civilian Administration of Late Bisi Onabanjo split Odeda District Council into three local governments namely: - Odeda, Opeji and Ilugun. These were, however, merged at the inception of Military Administration of Major General Mohammed Buhari / Idiagbon on 31st December 1983. Since then, Odeda local government has maintained its pre – 1981 status and exercise the power and functions of local government as specified in sections 58 to 72 of the Local Government Edict of 1976 conferred on it in respect of its area of jurisdiction.
The local government as at present is divided into Ten (10) Electoral Wards, viz:-
