Tourism is an important part of our lives and not just a luxury. Gateway Tourism aims to be an interactive cultural and educational system as well as economic development for the State. Gateway tourism industry is government initiative but private sector driven. Increasing evidence shows that an integrated approach to planning and management of tourism is now required to achieve sustainable tourism industry.
Tourism industry provides enormous potential to create linkages and dynamism for other sectors of the economy - agriculture, manufacturing and services. Ogun State is blessed with many Tourism sites which offer value for money when fully developed ranging from natural to cultural, from historical to traditional, arts and crafts; from business to leisure resorts, all of which are unique.
Through Tourism inherent message of goodwill, hospitality, trust, service without servility, tolerance, interaction and communication, tourism is a most effective mechanism for fostering tribal, local, national and international cultural exchange and understanding among the people. It is therefore an effective State-builder and a strong incentive and reason for peace.
THE VISION: “By 2010, Tourism becomes the leading contributor to a sustainable Ogun State economy”
KEY VALUES: ‘Education’, ‘Economic Growth’, ‘Responsibility’ and ‘Hospitality’.
OUR POLICY FOR 2009: To brand Ogun State as a tourist destination of choice and work towards making the State most preferred tourists’ destination through provision of infrastructure and super structure.
