PROFILE OF MINISTRY OF WOMEN AFFAIRS AND SOCIAL WELFARE
The Ministry of Women Affairs, Social Welfare and Community Development was created in June, 2003 from the defunct Ministry of Industrial and Social Development by the administration of Otunba Gbenga Daniel. With the re-structuring of Government agencies by the present administration, the department of Community Development under the old Ministry was excised in June 2005 and merged with the new Ministry ofCommunity Development and Co-operatives leaving the name as the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare.
GOALS OF THE MINISTRY
- To build a just society devoid of discrimination
- To promote Gender Equality and Empower Women
- To promote and protect the right of children
- To rehabilitate vagrants, psychotics, the homeless and beggars
- To enhance social stability through continuous and intensified matrimonial reconciliation
- To promote Social, Economic and potential well being of all Women and Children in order to achieve equitable rapid economic growth.
- To provide adequate care and rehabilitation of Destitute and Juvenile delinquents
- To encourage full participation of women in political activities in the State.
MISSION OF THE MINISTRY
To build a sustainable livelihood for women and promote social integration for the physically challenged and vulnerable groups, as well as discourage gender disparity and all forms of abuse against women and children.
VISION OF THE MINISTRY
To build a just society devoid of discrimination against women, to ensure continuous empowerment of women and protection of the Rights of Children. The Vision of the ministry is accomplished through its 5 (Five) major Departments viz:
· Department of Social Welfare Services;
· Department of Women Empowerment Services;
· Department of Planning, Research and Statistics;
· Department of Administration and supplies;
· Department of Finance and Accounts; via its 6 (six) Area offices namely; Sagamu, Ilaro, Ota, Ijebu-ode, Abeokuta and Ijebu-Igbo.

Completed Project - 1. Fencing of Juvenile Remand Home Asero Abeokuta
2. Renovation of Stella Obasanjo Children's Home Ibara Abeokuta
3. Renovation of Recreation Center for Challenged people
4. Provision of micro-Credit Facilities for market women in the State
