SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR OGUN STATE INDIGINES

EDUCATION
As the most potent tool for tackling the blight of ignorance, poverty, diseases and hopelessness, education was accorded greatest priority attention by the Otunba Gbenga Daniel Administration in its first term in office. Besides massive upgrading of infrastructures, new initiatives were introduced and drastic revolutions witnessed at the existing educational institutions and the newly established ones. Thefootprints include:-
PRIMARY/SECONDARY EDUCATION
Abolition of payment of all fees in public primary and secondary schools across the State.
Disbursement of a total ofN440,039,30 on the payment of WASSCE fees of SSS Students in public schools in the State irrespective of State of origin
Dis-articulation of public secondary schools into Junior and Senior Schools from 265 to 445.
Appointment of 4 Tutors General, one each from the 4 zones of the State.
Granting of duty posts to senior teachers Re-absorption of 59 teachers sacked by last administration
Establishment of 8 new public primary schools and 87 private primary schools.
Provision of 10 computers per schools to over 82 public secondary schools in the state under the School Net Programme
BURSARY AND SCHOLARSHIP

  • Disbursement of a total of N217.2M as bursary to students of the State origin in tertiary institutions across the nation.  
  • Release of N6.9M for provision of scholarship from N9, 000 to N25, 000 to all state physically challenged students in secondary and tertiary institutions for the 2003/2004 session.
  • Payment ofN5. 1 M as bursary awards to 254 Ogun State Law Students in Nigeria Law Schools.  
  • Continuous Service of Scholarship awards to indigenes of the State with N21, 171 ,030 disbursed in 2002/2003 session on 200 level scholarships alone.

Release ofN6.2M to facilitate participation of students in various competitions, including JETS.

TERTIARY EDUCATION

OLABISI ONABANJO UNIVERSITY:-

Realization of the multi-campus dream of the founding fathers of the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOD) Ago-Iwoye with the take off of the College of Engineering and Technology, Ibogun and College of Agriculture, Ayetoro.
Disbursement ofN40M on the construction of access roads to link the OOU, Ibogun campus with various highways in its environs.
Disbursement of N30M on the renovation of the structures at the Ayetoro Campus of theOOU.

  • Tarring of access road into the main campus of the OOU at Ago-lwoye.

TAl SOLARIN UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION.

  • Upgrading of the Tai Solarin College of Education (TASUED) established in 1978 to a full fledged University of Education, the first of its kind in the country.

Disbursement of over- N412M on the construction of University Block, OGD Lecture Theatres and other infrastructures

  • Construction of Ijagun Express Road leading to TASUED main campus

Provision of 3 mini-buses and 2 luxury buses for use of students
On-going construction of campus hostel accommodation to combat the menace of crime and help students live an all-round campus life.
Provision of a 54 seater luxury bus and four (4) Toyota Hiace buses to ameliorate transportation problems of students
Construction of 8 new lecture theatres with capacity ranging form 1,000-2,500 each and completion of the institution's auditorium
Construction of a new Ultra Modem Sports Complex and Maintenance Building Reconstruction and face-lift of the Administrative Building
offurniture and Car Refurbishing loans to members of staff
