5. IFO LOCAL GOVERNMENT
CHAIRMAN:-SIKIRULAI WALE OGUNDELE
Ifo Local Government Area has a land area of 82,000 sq.km. and shares boundaries with Yewa South Local Government in the west, Ewekoro Local Government in the north, Obafemi-Owode Local Government in the east and Ado-Odo/Ota in the south. Ifo is the headquarters of this Local Government Area.
The Local Government has 11 wards namely: Ifo I, Ifo II, Ifo III, Agbado central, Akute -Ajuwon, Isheri, Oke-Aro-Ibaragun, Ososun, Sunren, Coker, and Ibogun.
PEOPLE
The Local Government Area is predominantly made up of Egbas, (Egba-Alake, Egba-Owu, Egba Oke-Ona and Egba-Gbagura. The Aworis and other sub-ethnic groups also co-exist there.
POPULATION
The projected population of this Local Government Area is about 186,000 according to 1991 population census.
OCCUPATION
The people are predominantly farmers and traders.
EDUCATION
The Local Government has 63 public primary schools & 11 secondary schools. There are also an appreciative number of private investments in the education industry.
TRADITIONAL RULERS
There are two traditional rulers in this Local Government Area, The Olofin of Isheri (Oba Ganiyu Eniadenwa Obatula, Onigbakule II) and the Olu of Ifo (Oba Gabriel Sowunmilola Oluomo, Ajagungbade I).
