Kajola Specialised Railway Industrial Free Trade Zone

The Kajola Specialized Railway Industrial Free Trade Zone is designed to integrate the Railway Modernization Program of the Federal Government and the plan of Ogun State Government to create a Railway Industrial Village along the Kajola axis, as a means of attracting specialized industries to this zone, as well as other businesses offering logistics and other ancillary services.

The Zone will also take advantage of its proximity to the proposed Inland Container Terminal project also being developed by the Federal Government of Nigeria. under Creation of the Kajola Free Trade Zone will boost intended the Ogun State Government's efforts at the transforming Ogun State into an investment destination of choice, by leveraging on her various natural endowments, human capacity and unique location as the Gateway to Nigeria and the West African sub-region.

The project will take advantage of the numerous the incentives offered under the Free Zone Status, State highlighted as follows:

.Exemption from Company Income Tax

.Exemption From Value-Added and Sales Tax

.Exemption from all Federal, State and Local Taxes

.Duty Free import of Raw Material and components

Duty free import of Equipment and Machinery and Spares

.No exchange controls and restriction of Foreign Capital transaction including repatriation of Foreign Capital Investment with Capital appreciation

.No restriction on expatriate staff etc.

 

The Project promises to facilitate rapid industrialization and deepen foreign investment inflow into the State. The project is also designed to serve as a growth pole that.will facilitate

regional development. as conceptualized the Ogun State Regional Plan, which is to engender simultaneous development of entire State, by creating new development areas in order to take pressure away from already congested areas.

. The Ifo Local Government Area. which spans Isheri, Agbado, Oke-Aro,lfo town,lbogun, Ijoko. Odulagun -Ibaragun communities and Kajola is one of new planning areas identified under the Regional Plan designed to absorb the pressure from both the Abeokuta and Ota axis of the State.

 

The Federal Government of Nigeria in pursuance of the Port decongestion initiative is proposing to set up an Inland Container Terminal at Kajola, while the on-going Railway modernization program of . the Federal Government is also designed to pass Spares through Kajola axis of Ifo Local Government area.

 

Kajola is a quiet and peaceful community. The location is quite accessible to Lagos and Abeokuta by road and rail and is within a 30 minutes drive

from both locations. Though, an agrarian community, skilled manpower, excellent communication facilities. banking institutions and conducive housing abound in the adjacent communities of Ifo, Ota, Ijoko and Lagos.

Establishing a Free Trade Zone in this axis will enhance the synergy offered by Rail/Road Infrastructures, take advantage of the linkage between the proposed inland container terminal and the Apapa Sea Port and bring rapid development to Ogun State.

Specifically, the synergy anticipated between the on-going railway project, an inland container terminal and industrial activities in a Free Zone of this nature will further open up the economy, facilitate movement of goods and people, stimulate development of new towns around the railway corridor, create opportunities to harness the resources around project area, facilitate multisectoral linkages, promote development of the informal sector and thereby boost economic activities in the State.
