Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone is a joint venture between a Chinese Consortium comprising of Guangdong Xinguang African Investment Group and CCNC, both of the Guangdong Province of the People Republic of China and Ogun State Government.

The Project is conceptualized to establish a Free Trade Zone in the Igbesa area of Ogun State on an expanse of land covering about 7,000 hectares. The project will lead to the establishment of several industries and manufacturing companies which will carry out productive activities in the areas of ceramic processing, furniture processing, production of hardware and household appliances, foot wares production, plastic and garment industries etc.

The OGFTZ is one of the three Free Trade Zones that the Chinese Consortium intends to set up in the African Continent with the support of the Chinese Government.

The Project promises to provide employment opportunity for the citizens of the State, especially indigenes and residents of the Project area; impact the socio-economic lives of the people; lead to physical and infrastructural development, skills and Technology transfer, human capital development and boost the activities of the informal sector as well as various other small business concerns in the state.

The Choice of the project location was informed by the strategy of the State Government to ensure simultaneous development of the State in line with recommendations of the State Regional Plan. Part of this strategy is to reduce pressures on development areas already becoming congested and redirect development to new planning Areas in the State.
