STATE UNIVERSAL BASIC EDUCATION BOARD (SUBEB)
Primary Education in Ogun state under the present administration has made landmark stride through improved provision of teaching and learning infrastructurea and teacher's welfare. The State Universal Basic Education Board (which metamorphosed from the State Primary Education Board) came into being through the State Law No 28 of August 2005. The Board is headed by a seasoned and experienced educationist, Chief (Mrs) Olabosipo Ogunsan. The Board is mainly responsible for the management of the 1350 public primary schools with a population of 452,298 pupils taught by 16,821 teachers.
INFRASTRUCTURE
712 classrooms in the primary schools had been re-roofed.
48 new classrooms constructed.
The UBE and World Bank Community Self-help projects have rehabilitated 261 classrooms.
50 new classrooms have been completed under the UBE Programme while the construction of another fifty (50) is on going .
PRIMARY SCIENCE
N27 million science equipment distributed to 500 schools in 2004/2005.
TEACHERS DEVELOPMENT
5,500 teachers have been trained in reading skills by Tai Solarin University of Education and Olabisi Onabanjo University.
The Federal College of Education, Osiele assisted in the training of 2,500 science teachers.
Four hundred Early Child Care Education handlers also went through workshop on phonics.
LIBRARY SERVICES
Library facilities are now being put in place public primary schools with the provision of books and furniture. Teachers librarians have also been trained in 30 schools.
