In its resolve to ensure a free and fair 2021 Local Government elections, the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) has tasked the recently screened and appointed Electoral Officers to be impartial, and take personal responsibility in the discharge of their duties.

OGSIEC Chairman, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu, who gave the charge during a meeting with the 20 Electoral Officers at the Conference Room of the Commission in Abeokuta, said their job demand a high level of impartiality, neutrality and transparency, noting that they must avoid any act that would drag their integrity in the mud.

He harped on the need for them to be assertive, proactive and accustomed with the bye-laws, electoral guidelines and timetable, adding that they must not collect gratification and shun any form of inducement from anyone.

“I want to charge you all not to soil your names and the integrity of the Commission, you have all gone through rigorous process to be here.

Therefore, you must justify the confidence we have in you, every piece of information that you come in contact with must be kept confidential. You must also be careful of your association and no unruly people must be seen around you”, Osibodu said.

Speaking on behalf of other Electoral Officers, Comrade Joseph Olusanya from Ijebu-North Local Government and Akinbode Musa-Amao from Yewa North Local Government, appreciated the Commission for finding them worthy of the assignment, pledging their total commitment to the success of the exercise.
