Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has stated that Judges in the State have never given the government any cause to doubt their integrity, probity and good conscience in the discharge of their duties.
Abiodun made this known during the Special Mosque Service at Kobiti, Abeokuta, to usher in the 2022/2023 Legal Year, saying at no time had any Judge given contradictory interlocutory injunctions which might warrant them to appear before the disciplinary committee of the National Judicial Council for any disciplinary case.
Represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Gov Abiodun noted that ‘’the sterling qualities of the leadership of Ogun State Judiciary under the Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu can be deduced that Ogun State judiciary is on the right track for continued development”.
Congratulating them on the successful commencement of another legal year, Abiodun revealed that in the fledging democracy, the judiciary must remain a strong pillar for the survival of the best democratic principles and preserving the rights of the people, who were the sole essence of governance.
The Governor assured that his administration would continue to ensure a viable system of law and justice that guarantees individual rights, by formulating policies and implementing programmes to ease the dispensation of justice in the State.
In his lecture titled “Peaceful co-existence in a multi-religious society: “The role of Muslim”, the Chief Missioner, Forum for Comparative Sermons (FOCOS), Ibadan, Oyo State, Dr. Dawood Amoo said ‘’irrespective of our religion, everyone must live in peace and harmony as stated in the motto of the country ‘Peace and Unity”.
Amoo added that Islam encourages peace, hence the need for Muslim faithful to be just in all they do, saying without peace there would not be justice and enjoined Muslim lawyers to have a full understanding of the Quran, as well as put it to use to guide them in their day-to-day activities.
Highlight of the programme was reading from the Holy Qur’an and special prayers for Ogun State Judiciary, the State and the country at large.
