Following an inspection recently carried out by a team from African Development Bank (AFDB) to some agro processing companies in Ogun State, a pre-appraisal mission towards the Special Agro-Industrial Zone (SAPZ) Project has been organized in collaboration with International Fund For Agriculture Development (IFAD) and other stakeholders.
The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun at a stakeholders meeting held today noted that SAPZ Project would key into the vision of the present adminstration in making the state an industrial hub and creating prosperity for the people.
Governor Abiodun who described Ogun State as the best location for SAPZ implementation judging by its closeness to raw materials, proximity to Lagos and the commencement of agro cargo airport, said the project would be implemented through Public Private Sector Partnership.
Addressing participants during the event at Obas’ Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the Special Economic Adviser to the Governor who is also the State’s Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo said SAPZ coupled with agro cargo airport under construction would bring immense economic benefits to the State and the country.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Adeola Odedina said SAPZ is a Project that would benefit all, as warehouses, good road networks, power supply and others are included in the project for the benefit of all.
